About us
A professional body for mental health research and application. We convene the people who do the work, and stay out of the way of it.
What we are for
Mental health research is done by people who rarely meet each other. Clinical psychologists, neuropsychologists, psychiatrists and occupational specialists publish in different journals, hire through different channels and apply to different funders. The Society exists to close that gap: individual members convene the seminars, teach the courses, circulate the posts and fund the awards, and find each other without an intermediary.
We are not a funder of scale, not a regulator, and not a clinical service. We convene, accredit, circulate and award small grants — and we publish what we decide.
There is no institutional tier and no staff programme. Everything here — a seminar, a course, a post, an award — was proposed by a member and decided by a committee of members. The office administers; it does not curate.
The founder
Open dialogue is not a method we teach. It is the condition under which everything else we teach becomes possible.
Dorota Styk founded the Society in 2025 after fifteen years in clinical research, on the observation that the people who most needed to talk to one another were the least likely to be in the same room.
