Accessibility
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 AA across this site and in the rooms we book. Where we fall short, we would rather be told than guess.
This site
Text resizes to 200 per cent without loss of content. Every control is reachable by keyboard, with a visible focus ring. Colour is never the only means of conveying information. Motion is limited to short fades, and is suppressed entirely when your system requests reduced motion.
Our venues
12 Bloomsbury Square has step-free access from the street, an accessible WC on the ground floor, and a hearing loop in the seminar room. Senate House and the Wellcome Collection publish their own access guides; we link to them on each event.
Events and courses
Slides and readings are circulated at least 48 hours ahead. Live captioning is provided on request with two weeks' notice, and all online sessions are captioned by default. Recordings are kept for four weeks.
Known gaps
PDFs of council papers published before 2026 are not tagged for screen readers. The members' directory does not yet support keyboard-only filtering. Both are scheduled for the Hilary term.
Telling us
Email the office with the page or room, what you were trying to do, and what got in the way. We reply within five working days and say what we will do, or that we cannot.
