Organise with us
Everything the Society runs is run by its members. There is no separate staff programme and no institutional tier — if you want to convene it, teach it or fund it, the route is the same.
Open to any full member. Proposals go to the next monthly meeting; we reply either way.
Six ways members organise
Propose a seminar, symposium or reading group. You set the subject and chair it; the Society handles the room, reservations and capacity.
Members teach the accredited programme. Propose a course, agree the fee with the education committee, and issue certificates to attendees.
One post a month at no cost, circulated to 1,240 members each Thursday before it reaches the open market.
Fund a named award or add to an existing round. The panel administers it; you set the eligibility and see every decision.
Bring a co-hosted series, a commissioned review, or a fellow exchange. We convene the people; we do not sub-contract the work.
Any full member of two years’ standing may stand for council, the education committee or the grants panel.
How a proposal becomes a programme
The office administers; members decide.
- 1One page, not tenWhat you want to convene, for whom, and roughly when. A paragraph is often enough.
- 2It goes to a committee of membersEvents and collaborations to council; courses to the education committee; awards to the honorary treasurer. All meet monthly or termly.
- 3We handle the logisticsRoom, listing, reservations, capacity, waiting list, certificates. You keep the subject and the chair.
- 4You are named, not brandedYour name goes on the event, the course and the award. The Society takes no fee and claims no credit for the work.
Closed events that members cannot attend. Salary-blind adverts. Unpaid research roles. Anything that reads as product marketing.
